Division Leader

MAJOR FUNCTION:

  • Complete oversight of Division
  • Supervise as many as 30 staff and 150 campers on a daily basis
  • Work closely with parents and families
  • Direct communication with Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Assume responsibility for safety regulations
  • Follow Aviator Sports and Camp objectives, rules, policies and guidelines
  • Run staff training for counselors
  • Know where groups are at all time
  • Problem solves through situations and seek assistance when necessary
  • Serve as a positive role model for staff and campers
  • To be punctual and organized
  • Participate in Supervision of Trips
  • Attend all staff meetings
  • Help to maintain and secure all equipment and supplies of the program
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Maintain an atmosphere of mutual caring, respect, and understanding
  • Handle disciplinary issues when they arise, and practice positive behavior management

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum qualification requires candidate to have completed their Junior year of College by the start of camp
  • Ability to work as a team member with other counselors and adult staff members
  • Responsible, friendly, enthusiastic, actively engaged and patient

  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Previous experience in a youth related program is desired

Assistant Division Leader

MAJOR FUNCTION:

  • Responsibilities include those of general counselor along with;
  • Safety and wellbeing of assigned campers within group

CIT PROGRAM

New to Aviator Sports Summer Day Camp for Summer 2017 is the Counselor in Training (CIT) program. The CIT program is open to rising 10th and 11th graders.

As recent previous campers, CIT’s understand the magic of camp. We want you to bring that love for camp to Aviator Sports Summer Day Camp and help impact our next generation of campers to fall in love with camp, just like you did!

The CIT program is a transitional period between camper and counselor. The program is designed to foster independence and leadership, develop out of the box thinking and problem solving, enhance communication abilities with co-workers and employers, develop self-awareness and confidence, learn how to be a respected role-model, as well as a way to enhance your resume for College.

The CIT program is educational, with exclusive trainings and workshops, as well as all-staff meetings and trainings. The program is overseen by the CIT Division Leader in which all CIT’s will report to daily. Each CIT will be assigned a group ranging from the Younger to Older Divisions. CIT’s are expected to intern in all aspects of the General Counselor’s job and responsibilities.

CIT’s have the opportunity to graduate to the general counselor position after one season of programming.

At the completion of the summer, CIT’s will earn a stipend as well as community service hours.
