Gateway National Recreation Area
Floyd Bennett Field is part of the Gateway National Recreation Area. As the fourth largest national park in the U.S., Gateway National Recreation Area is managed by the National Park Service.
As part of the Gateway National Recreation Area, the management of the Aviator Sports and Events Center, located at the Historic Floyd Bennett Field, is a collaboration partnership between a private sports management company and the National Park Service (NPS), which has authorized a concession contract to the operators of Aviator Sports and Events Center to provide sports and recreation services and programs to Gateway’s visitors.

In keeping with the mission of the NPS, all programs and events held at Aviator Sports and Events Center are intended to provide an educational, social, and community benefit.
Floyd Bennett Field, designated as a National Historic Landmark District for its significance and contributions in the early development of aviation and contributions to national defense during World War 2, is part of the Jamaica Bay Unit of the Gateway National Recreation Area.
