Baseball Big Hitters

Overview

Big Hitters is a great class for children ages 5-6 looking to learn how to play baseball or to reinforce their skills. This six-week class expands on teaching the fundamentals of baseball in a structured environment. Players remain active during class while having fun at all times that they are on the field. Children will hit off tees, field in positions, learn proper throwing techniques, as well as the proper way to run the bases.

At this age, kids are still developing their fine motor skills and coordination. Aviator’s coaches have an understanding of the developmental limitations of kids in this age group.

Coaches focus on the following:

  •  Teaching the basket catch
  •  Teaching to catch the ball with the hands up
  •  Teaching to catch the ball with two hands

During hitting drills, kids are taught the importance of their legs powering their bodies, which will help them drive the ball and create an excellent foundation as they learn to hit without a tee as they grow older.

Players will also learn about playing defense how to cover bases, and how to move when the ball is hit.
