Peewee Major

Philosophy: 2005 and 2006 Levels:

Spring

We will start heavy in the spring months with the implementation of the team system. The thought process will be to go strong with skill development with the continuation of mastering all three zones. Special Teams will be introduced with each line and defensive pairing color coded as this will begin establishing chemistry. I will provide a report card for each player at the end of the month detailing what is being taught and what needs to be worked on. The environment will be challenging and rewarding!

Fall/Winter

September will offer a ton of conditioning and team play. Flow drills and System oriented practices will be key to a quick start to the season. We will do off ice training once per week early on to establish strength and injury prevention. Expect a tremendous amount of battle drills to create competition amongst fellow teammates which will translate into the game setting. October/November the 05’ & 06’ groups will be in a serious groove playing as a TEAM. The once a week off ice program will continue and each player will be assigned to our new shooting station in the corner of RINK B to work on strength of shot and stick handling development, before and after practice. Our practice environment will be at an elevated tempo that will help us “push the pace” in games. At the end of November, a report will be generated on your player after the first 12 weeks. Input will be constructive and direct. You will know where your player stands with coaches.

December/January will garner “change”. Small games and new drills for practices will freshen things up a bit. Coaches feel it’s necessary in these months to make practice fun and not so repetitive. We will continue to work on segments of our game that need constant attention. Special Teams and 4 on 4 play, full ice, will enhance skill level and conditioning. February will be all about finishing strong with more flow drills and competition. This month is usually tricky as it’s the end of the season and there are many breaks with school. The key is to keep the group committed and push players in the right manner.
