AVIATOR SPORTS VOLLEYBALL CLUB ANNOUNCES LIU’S KYLE ROBINSON AS DIRECTOR
October 8, 2014It was announced Wednesday that Kyle Robinson, Head Coach of the LIU Brooklyn volleyball program, has been named the club director and head coach of the Aviator Sports Volleyball Club (ASVC). Entering his seventh season at the helm of the Blackbird program, Robinson has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Coach of the Year for the past three seasons and has amassed a 11970 overall record, including a remarkable 7610 conference mark that includes three undefeated regular seasons and four NEC championship titles. In addition, his student athletes have won four NEC Player of the Year awards and six Rookie, Libero or Setter of the Year trophies. Under Robinson’s guidance, the Blackbirds have totaled 17 AllNEC First Team awards and have been named to the second team six times.
Robinson came to Brooklyn in 2008 after three years as an assistant coach at the United States Air Force Academy. Prior to that he owned his own Club Team in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He spent several years playing professionally overseas, including stints in Greece, Puerto Rico and Belgium, while also spending five years with the U.S. National team as an in training athlete and candidate for both the 2004
Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
“It’s an honor to be affiliated with such a professional group like Aviator,” says Coach Robinson. “I am extremely excited to be involved with youth volleyball in Brooklyn and look forward to helping bring the Aviator Sports Volleyball Club to prominence on a national level. Our club will compete with pride, strength, and honor, and Aviator is the perfect place to cultivate these values. It’s a dream facility for our athletes to perfect their crafts and work on becoming champions.” The Philadelphia native will serve as Aviator Sports Volleyball Club (ASVC)s Master Coach, Technical Trainer and Club Director. Joining him will be his LIU coaching staff, including Orlando Catalan and Alyssa Bennett as Lead Coaches and his wife, Jennifer Robinson, as a Master Coach and Club Consultant.Tryouts for the 20142015 season will be Nov. 4 and 12 for 13U and 15U, and Nov. 5 and 11 for 18U.
