Aviator Sports Summer Camp, a premier Sports, and Recreation Camp is currently searching for Seasonal Summer Camp Counselors, Science Specialist Instructor, Division Leaders, Camp Nurse, Certified Life Guards, Water Safety Instructor and Specialist for Art and Dance for our “2020” Seasonal Summer Day Camp program located at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, NY.  Summer Camp season begins on June 28 through August 23, 2020.

Camp Counselors: Oversee campers and assist with structured activities throughout the day as per the schedule such as art, music, group discussions, and recreational games.  Minimum of 6 – 9 month’s experience working with youth in recreational/sports activities.

Division Leaders: Supervise approximately 30 – 40 counselors on a daily basis to serve as a role model for Aviator’s Camp Counselors and enrolled campers.  Assist with staff training for all counselors and responsible for any disciplinary issues that may arise on a daily basis.  Minimum qualification requires the candidate to be at least a current college student with experience working with youth in a recreational/sports environment.

Certified Life Guards: Monitor pool with constant attention to all swimmers.  Respond promptly and appropriately when a rescue or first aid is necessary.  Know and enforce all pool rules in a respectful manner. At least one year of work-related experience as a Life Guard. Lifeguard Certification through the American Red Cross or equivalent.   CPR first aid certification for both Adult and Child.

Certified Water Safety Instructors: Plans and organizes personal class teaching outlines, methods, and goals that support the general teaching outlines provided by Aviator’s Swimming Program. Organizes and directs activities of assigned students to provide a high level of quality instruction for all students. High school graduate preferred.  Must possess Red Cross First Aid Certification, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification, and Red Cross CPR certification.

Science Specialty InstructorOrganize and facilitate Aviator’s Science Seasonal Program for all summer campers.  Plans and organizes personal class teaching outlines, methods, and goals that support the general teaching outlines provided by Aviator’s Seasonal Summer Camp Program. Organizes and directs activities of campers to provide a high level of quality science projects for all studentsStrong background in childcare, licensed teachers are given priority. Strong communication skills required. Hours: Mon-Fri: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Must be a science college student or college graduate.

NURSE – Summer Day Camp:  Coordinate all health care functions and oversee the execution of health care for Aviator’s Summer Day Camp. This includes providing First Aid, individual health care, maintaining health records, administering and managing medications, collaborating with external health care providers and communicating with parents/guardians. 

Physical Requirements: Able to conduct recreational activities with youth equipment operation. To be able to participate in physical activities such as swimming, field sports, and physical team building activities.  Relations with others: Able to work with children ages 3-15 years old and able to work well with other Counselors.

To be considered a successful candidate, you must have related experience in recreation, sports, youth programs, and summer camps.
